MEET CHARLES E. BASS SR.
Charles
E. Bass Sr received his degree in music education from Rowan University
in Glassboro, NJ. where he studied voice with Dr. Eugene Simpson. Mr.
Bass is a 34 year retired choral/vocal teacher, In 1998 he was selected
as the South Jersey Junior High conductor and the Senior High Director
in 2006. He has had songs commissioned for the South Jersey Elementary
Chorus Festival and has written music for the Junior High Chorus
Festival and numerous New Jersey schools. He was named teacher of the
year in 1999 and received the 1999 Atlantic County Governor’s Teacher
Recognition Award. He is also the recipient of the 2000 NJMEA Governor’s
Award for Music.
An Absegami High School
graduate, he was inducted into the school’s Wall of Fame in 2004. Bass
has performed on, written and arranged more than 30 professional
recordings and musicals. He has performed at Carnegie Hall and Avery
Fisher Hall, Lincoln Center as a soloist with the Jubilate Deo Chorale
& Orchestra. He has also performed with the Rowan Chamber Choir and
the Mormon Tabernacle choir under the direction of renowned composer
Jester Hairston.
Mr. Bass is currently a minister of music at Faith Fellowship Church in Glassboro NJ.
He resides in Sicklerville with his wife, Reneé, and his son Charles Jr.
